Relationship quotes are amusing and salutary. Enjoy reading them and don’t forget

The best relationship quotes I know are very amusing as well as very descriptive of real life.  I always find enjoyment in reading them and so today I will share a few with you.  Where possible I have included the source of the original quote to give credit to their author.

We all know and love amusing and it is worth remembering that humor has always to be a principal element in a good relationships.  One of the most down to earth quotations I can remember was when Oprah Winfrey was asked about her experience of relationships and she replied, «Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down."   There is a lot of truth in this!

On a more serious note, Mark Twain described love as "the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired." There is this quote , credited to Leo Buscaglia,  'Too often we under estimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around'.  He also said, 'Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life.'

It is those little things in a relationship that can cause it to grow or fall apart.  It is so easy to always blame your partner when you are discontented but Martha Washington said 'I have learned from experience that a greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.'

There are some quotes that are both beautiful and sad at the same time, such as the following from the English writer, Somerset Maugham, on unrequited love being "The love that lasts the longest is the love that is never returned."

When Colin Powell said "None of us can change our yesterdays, but we can all change our tomorrows", he probably was not thinking romantic relationships yet it merits being remembered.  Why hold a grudge against your partner because of what they have done in the past?    You can do nothing about it now so why not drop it, as long as the same thing does not repeat itself all the time.

"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much" Said Helen Keller. Despite being born blind and mute she achieved so much more than the rest of us will manage to do in a lifetime.  Being part of a couple and then a family gives us the chance to be so much more. Relationships would be so much happier if we said thank you and I love you just a little more often. We should learn to appreciate the gifts we have.

Mother Theresa is quoted as saying "There is more hunger for love and appreciation in the world today than for bread".  Tell your partner today how much you love and appreciate them today, to avoid a day when you wished you had listened to these relationship quotes.
